2018 was a truly great vintage with perfect growing conditions and slow even ripening in the vineyards. This wine is made from 34% Grenache, 33% Syrah and 33% Mourvedre. 75% of the fruit was grown at Martian Ranch and 25% from Bien Nacido Vineyard. The lots were fermented separately and then blended together shortly before bottling. This wine was aged in neutral French oak for 13 months prior to bottling.
The wine was lightly fined with organic egg whites.
This is a classic Southern French Rhone blend from grapes grown in a cool coastal influenced climate. Each of the varieties brings its special character to the final blend. Grenache gives aromatic bright wild strawberry high notes, Syrah gives a spicy and rich middle palate and Mourvèdre provides the length and complexity in the finish.
This lush and elegant expression of this wonderful blend of grapes is drinkable now but will age nicely for the next 5-10 years. For early enjoyment, we suggest decanting the wine to open it up to get the full spectrum of flavors.
