The grapes for this wine were grown at the Ibarra-Young Vineyard in Santa Ynez Valley. The vineyard has been farmed organically since 1999, although it’s not certified. This wine is aged in 3-year old French puncheons for a year and a half.
The growing season was cool overall except for a brief but mighty heat wave around Labor Day. Graciano is a later ripening grape and usually comes in early to mid-October. In 2017 the grapes were picked in late September.
This is a fresh medium-bodied wine with pretty berry and rose petal aromas. On the palate it shows ripe plum and blackberries with subtle herbal notes. This is a perfect warm weather red. Serve it with a little chill and fire up the grill!
