Description
2019 Grenache Rosé
Ampelos Vineyard
Santa Rita Hills
2019 gave us a cool, long growing season that finished with a heat spell around Labor Day. The yields for Grenache at Ampelos Vineyard were down about 50%. This gave the wine some nice intensity.
The Demeter certified biodynamic Grenache grapes were picked early for rosé and whole cluster pressed. The wine was fermented in a small stainless steel tank and went through malolactic fermentation, which adds a nice depth to the high acid, cool-climate wine. The wine was aged in neutral barrels for 4 months prior to bottling.
The wine has a pretty pale rose-pink color. The aromas exhibit white floral notes and wild strawberries. Flavors of strawberries and watermelon with pretty herbal notes , a supple mouth-feel and a lively, crisp finish.
72 were cases produced.
