Vista Serrano Vineyard, Paso Robles

The majority of Grenache grapes were sourced from Vista Serrano Vineyard, located on the West side of Paso Robles. The soils at this hillside vineyard are rocky loam with limestone striated throughout. The Sawyer Lindquist Vineyard is in the coastal Edna Valley, six miles from the Pacific Ocean. All the Grenache was de-stemmed and soaked overnight on their skins before being pressed. The Mourvedre, from Vista Serrano Vineyard was whole cluster pressed. All the grapes were picked early for rosé. The lots fermented separately in a combination of neutral barrels and stainless steel tank. All the must went through malolactic fermentation.

The rosé components were blended together in December, fined with bentonite and cold stabilized for a month. The finished wine was bottled in early February.

The wine has a pretty rose-pink color. The aromas are of strawberries with hints of watermelon.   This refreshing wine has a round textural and spicy component from the Mourvedre, while the Grenache adds bright berry fruit. On the finish I find hints of herbs de Provence and bright citrus.
